The Women’s Summit Focus Groups

The Pre-Summit Focus Group meetings held on 15th and 18th July brought together senior members from diverse industries in the corporate sector and NGOs for an in depth discussion on the new policy announced by the Prime Minister on 27th June. They deliberated at length on the some of the measures that can be taken to effectively implement the new policy which requires women to occupy 30% of senior decision making positions, particularly in the boardrooms of the corporate sector.

Some of the questions discussed were:
What measures can companies take to implement this policy?
How can women prepare to take on senior positions in organisations?
What support can the government provide to successfully implement this policy?

The issues raised and recommendations made at the Focus Group meetings and the Women’s Summit will be compiled in a report and submitted to Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development for their further action.  This report provides valuable input to the Ministry in their development of policies and programmes which affect women.
