The eighth Women’s Summit entitled Challenging Mindsets, Transforming Lives was a two day affair held on the 8th and 9th of December 2010. The first day began with Dato’ Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, in her Welcome Address, acknowledging the diehard Women’s Summit followers – men as well as women. At the Women’s Summit 2009, participants were given plenty of tips, advice and motivation to turn breaks into breakthroughs, in line with the theme Can Women Turn Adversity Into Opportunity? On the 18th of August 2009 women and men from the public and private sectors attended the day-long Summit held at the Sime Darby Convention Centre walked away with much more than inspirational talks and useful learning labs that have become the hallmark of the annual event. The fact that the 2008 Women’s Summit was successfully held despite severe budgetary constraints in anticipation of a global economic slowdown is testimony to the relevance of its theme, Teaming Up To Make A Difference. The Women’s Summit 2005, held on the 25th of August 2005, was themed Managing And Nurturing The Next Generation. It took up the challenge of looking at issues facing women in the next 20 years. How can we educate and prepare the next generation to make the most exciting opportunities that lie ahead? How can women lock into exciting opportunities in the new emerging fields such as biotechnology and e-commerce? What mindset, knowledge and skills must we encourage? And finally what lessons can we draw from the success of powerful women? |
